Anna & Fred: We were so excited to work with you for our JOSEPH Autumn Winter 2023 campaign. How did you feel coming back to JOSEPH to be the face of our campaign for a second time?

Amber: It is a wonderful moment to be working with JOSEPH again. What I love about the brand is that it is timeless, creating the clothes you want to wear daily.

Anna & Fred: If you had to choose which piece from the collection would you consider to be your everyday essential?

Amber: I love a tailored suit, so the taupe Allcroft tailored three-piece suit look is my favorite.

Anna & Fred: It has been over a decade since you last worked with JOSEPH - what was it like working with Peter Lindbergh on the now iconic AW2010 campaign?

Amber: I treasure every shoot that I worked on with Peter Lindbergh, it is hard to believe the last shoot with JOSEPH was over a decade ago!

Anna & Fred: This year, JOSEPH celebrates its 40-year anniversary, and a lot has changed in this time. How have you seen the fashion industry evolve throughout your career?

Amber: The best change in the fashion industry is definitely the diverse representation of all types of people. This is a beautiful and much needed change. The downside I would say is the speed in which we are creating, producing, selling and discarding fashion. It needs to slow down for creatives, the planet, all of us. We need to connect deeper with the value of what we buy.

Anna & Fred: You are deeply passionate about the environment and sustainability – what advice would you give to anyone who loves fashion but wants to be more responsible?

Amber: Shop your closet first! Buy timeless and well-made pieces. Support brands who are making an effort to look at their carbon footprint throughout their supply chain. NEVER throw clothes in the bin. Re-wear, repurpose, resell, or recycle!

Anna & Fred: You are so right. At JOSEPH we strive to create beautiful and thoughtful pieces with purpose; those luxury essentials designed to last season after season. But we believe there is more we can do. We have just spent the last year defining our long-term corporate sustainability strategy. We all have a role to play.

Anna & Fred: How would you describe your personal style?

Amber: A mix of masculine and feminine. I like vintage too! I never want clothes to wear me. Even if I wear a major piece I like inhabiting the look.

Anna & Fred: Who has had a profound influence on your style over the years?

Amber: I love watching people on the streets and I love a mix from the past century.

Anna & Fred: Is there a particular individual whose style you admire?

Amber: It’s tricky to pick just one, but if I had to pick, it would be Jane Birkin.

Anna & Fred: At JOSEPH, our aim is to work on timeless, high-quality pieces that will last a long time. What are your most treasured pieces?

Amber: My most treasured pieces are my vintage clothes, from Halston to Helmut Lang.

Anna & Fred: Your CV makes for an incredible read – what stands out as a defining or memorable moment in your career?

Amber: I feel super blessed and honored to have worked with some of the most creative talents in the fashion industry. There have been many defining moments in my career, so it is difficult to choose one! I have had the most wonderful career and it wasn’t built alone, ultimately it is the people in those epic moments that made them with me.

Anna & Fred: We are strong advocates of female empowerment at JOSEPH and are always looking for ways to hero, help and celebrate the incredible women in our community. You have often spoken about being of service to others. How do use your platform to do this?

Amber: I start with my daily routines of self-care and spiritual practice. I have a joy and love for life that helps me want to be of service to others. I am happier when others are thriving and happy. We all win when we lift each other up. Speaking directly about improving women’s lives, we know that when girls are given the freedom to be educated and thrive, we see more peace and prosperity in their communities. Giving women equal rights and freedoms creates a better world for all.
