Her project 'Genius Loci' is a considered approach to collage. Inspired by her first journey abroad, she digitally pieces together fragments of her photographs in order to capture and solidify the essence of the place in one image.
She tells JOSEPH:
'Genius Loci' was initiated by my first journey abroad. Back then I wasn't thinking that it was the beginning of a wider project, I just wanted to save for myself a feeling of a new place, so I put together all the fragments and recollection I had a created my first collage. Now with every journey, I try to preserve the spirit of each place in the same way. The name of the project comes from the ancient Romans, who believed that every place had its protective spirit, its 'genius loci'. I want my collages to show not only architectural structures in cohesion with landscape but to embody something bigger - a whole integral image of space. I want to visualise something incorporeal - the feeling, the way of the life, the atmosphere, the sensory appeal. I think all the places have something special and authentic.
