LEATHER

JOSEPH’s leather goods are made from the highest quality leather, sourced from reputable mills.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

It is recommended that you have your leather garments cleaned by a leather specialist. If your leather is accidentally stained, use a white cloth and warm water to dab the stain as quickly as possible. Do not rub the stain, as this will damage the leather. Always test in a hidden area first. Never use chemicals when cleaning your leather pieces. If you are unable to remove the stain, take your leather to a specialist leather dyer.

CARE

Do not iron.

Water: Leather can become damaged if exposed to water, therefore frequent waterproofing is recommended every five to six months. Apply the waterproofing agent, always on a dry garment at about 30cm to avoid the risk of staining. Always test in a hidden area first.

If your leather gets wet, it should be air dried away from a direct heat source.

Restoration: A leather cream can be used to help restore the natural oils in the leather. We recommend treating your leather every three – six months to provide it with vital moisture.

Repairs: Leather can be easily scratched, so avoid wearing very ornamented clothing or large jewellery with your leather pieces. If you accidentally tear or damage the leather, we recommend that you take the item to a leather specialist. Soft leather bags can deform, so it is advise not to overfill your handbags with heavy objects.

STORAGE

To keep fresh over time, air out before storing. Leather garments should be stored on a hanger, with foam protectors used on clip-on hangers to prevent marking. Clothing and accessories should ideally be placed in a breathable micro-perforated garment or accessory bags for additional protection against dust and moths. Avoid using plastic storage bags as they are not breathable.

Make sure that the leather pieces are kept away from light and heat sources, as this could dry out the leather, crack it and lighten the shade.

ECO HACKS

Leather is very durable and should last many years. If your leather pieces start to look a little dull, take them to a leather specialist who will polish the leather back to its original shine.
