MILITARY OVERTONES // A PROPOSITION OF PROPORTION

Enriched wardrobe essentials come militarised for autumn, taking the concept of a modern-day uniform back to its wellspring. There's slouch and there's structure; boyish bravado softened by the feminine.

Take the military overcoat. Its strict silhouette is loosened up when crafted from super-soft boiled wool in cream. Flap pockets become significant details when overly elongated, a playful nod to proportion.

There's no token camouflage print or khaki-we've reduced military gestures to their concentrated best. Here, the palette is dedicated to in-between shades of neutrals like ecru, oatmeal and biscuit, bringing the focus back to radical silhouette.

Conscious of the body a classic fisherman's knit is revised with extended dimensions. Its melange yarn is long in the torso, the sleeves even longer, drawing the eye downwards to the pleated pant worn with. Cut wide on the leg and cropped suddenly to the ankle, the boyish trousers are updated in matte duchesse satin. Tailoring, proportion and fabric all sartorially subverted.
